In a bid to strengthen the structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and promote unity among members in Oluyole Local Government, the Chairman of the party, Comrade Adekunle Samson, convened a strategic meeting with party members on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Olomi Primary School 2, Academy Area, Olomi, Ibadan.
The meeting brought together party stakeholders and loyal members who engaged in a robust and heartfelt political discussion centered on the growth of the party and the overall development of Oluyole Local Government.
While addressing members during the meeting, the Chairman emphasized the importance of unity within the party. He noted that the ADC in Oluyole Local Government would not tolerate divisional groups or factional politics, stressing that any political differences occurring at other levels should not be allowed to affect the unity and progress of the party at the local government level.
According to him, the party remains committed to building a strong and united political family. He therefore called on members and new supporters to join the party with sincerity, love, and a shared vision for progress.
The Chairman also urged members to ensure they possess their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and actively mobilize residents within their communities to obtain both their voter’s cards and membership cards of the African Democratic Congress. He further informed members that the ongoing voter registration exercise, particularly in Ward 7, provides an opportunity for eligible citizens to register and prepare to participate in the 2027 general elections.

In a significant development during the meeting, some members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oluyole Local Government officially defected to the African Democratic Congress. The defecting members were led by Honourable Mogaji and Honourable Saheed Adewale, who serve as key leaders within their political group in Oluyole Local Government. They were formally introduced by Comrade Lawal, Chairman of the SDP in Oluyole Local Government, alongside Comrade Saheed Adetunji, the Secretary of the SDP in the local government. Their defection was warmly received by the ADC leadership and members present at the meeting.
Additionally, a representative of another political bloc known as the Ilaka Group, Mr. Lawal Adebiyi, was also present at the meeting and was warmly welcomed by the party leadership.
During the meeting, Honourable Akinpelu Oyebukola formally declared her intention to contest for the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Oluyole Constituency. Her declaration was received with encouragement and goodwill from the party leadership and members present.
The meeting concluded with a joint prayer session offered in both Islamic and Christian traditions, reflecting the spirit of unity, inclusiveness, and collective hope for the continued progress of the party.
Attendance was duly recorded as loyal members of the party turned out in large numbers, demonstrating their commitment to the growth and success of the African Democratic Congress in Oluyole Local Government. Members expressed satisfaction and renewed enthusiasm following the impactful meeting, which was widely described as a productive gathering aimed at strengthening the party and advancing the development of Oluyole.
